Smog Tips

A Test Only Smog Center is differentiated from a Test and Repair Smog Center because the Test Only center does not perform vehicle repairs. For this reason you can be sure that when you come to Henry's Smog you will get an unbiased inspection. We want you to pass the inspection just as much as you do. We have absolutely no motivation to fail you! Here are some tips if you have an older vehicle than 2000 that will make your visit to us more successful. 

  1. Take your car for a 15-20 min drive before you stop by our shop. Warming up your car will ensure that it will run at an optimal level and have a higher chance of passing smog
  2. Make sure your tire pressure is at a recommended level, having a car with lower tire pressure will not allow the car to stabilize while running the dynamo meter. Don't worry, if you have any questions about your tire pressure, our shop will fill up your tires for free.
  3. If you haven't had an oil change in quite some time, now is the time to do it. When you don't change your oil, contaminants and particles build up in your engine that causes a release of a gas being tested called HC (Hydrocarbon) and can lead the car to fail. It is highly recommended to get an oil change done (if needed) prior to a smog.
